It is used to increase motor starting torque
Start (55 uF). When the AC turns on, the 55 uF section gives the compressor a big electrical “kick” (high torque). To overcome inertia and start spinning, then a centrifugal switch cuts it out of the circuit.
Run (5 uF). The 5 uF part stays in the circuit constantly, helping the fan motor maintain smooth, efficient operation (like a two-phase motor.
