Universal Refrigeration Thermostat Defrost Clixon / Klixon
A universal refrigeration defrost “Klixon” (or defrost termination switch) regulates the defrost cycle in no-frost freezers nad refrigerators. It clamps onto the evaporator coil and acts as a temperature-activated safety switch: it closes when the coils are cold to turn on the defrost heater, and opens when the ice melts and the coil reaches a preset temperature (typically around 10° C to 13° C, or 50° F to 55° F) to prevent overheating
- At temperatures below freezing, it should show continuity (closed circuit).
- At room temperature, it should show no continuity
