Scroll Crankcase Heater ZRH2
A scroll crankcase heater is a device installed on scroll compressors. Commonly used in aircon and refrigeration systems. The heater plays a vital role in protecting the compressor during cold weather or extended off cycles.
Prevents Refrigerant Migration: Keeps the oil warm so liquid refrigerant doesn’t dissolve into it during shutdowns.
Stops Oil Foaming: Ensures oil remains effective and prevents foaming on startup, which can starve bearings of lubrication (bearing washout).
Protects Against Slugging. Prevents a large amount of liquid refrigerant and oil from being forced into the scrolls, which can cause catastrophic failure
When it’s used:
Cold Weather: Essential for systems in cooler climates
Long Downtime: Recommended for systems that sit off for extended periods (like winter).
Heat Pumps: Crucial for heat pumps to handle the reversals and cold cycles.Â
